Sr Boys College Recruiting Education Night


We are happy to announce that we will be hosting a College Recruitment Education Night for all of our senior boys born in 2005-2009. This meeting will provide education to our players and their families on what the recruiting process entails.

The following topics will be covered:


Player Recruiting Timeline:
Freshman Year
- Focus on Player improvement
- Focus on Academics
- Familiarize yourself with the college game (watch games live or TV, look into ID camps)
Sophomore Year
- Develop an initial pool of schools that interest you.
- Contact colleges via email- be proactive!
- Attend College Soccer games
- Begin College visits/ID Camps

Start of Junior Year
- Narrow/adjust pool of schools
- Be realistic and open to potential new schools
- Continue college visits and ID Camps
- Be very proactive in communicating with college coaches - continue sending tournament
schedules and your player profile!

 

Spring of Junior Year/Senior Year
- Narrow your list further
- College visits
- Keep your grades up
- Division I and II players: register through the NCAA Clearinghouse (www.eligibilitycenter.org)
- Improve skills, strength, and fitness level

Men’s Soccer Dead/Quiet Periods
Dead Period v. Quiet Period
Dead Period – all in-person contact between college coaches and recruits is strictly prohibited.
Coaches are not able to talk to recruits on-campus, at their high school, at sports camps, or
even when running into them while out.
Quiet Period – a college coach may only have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-
athletes or their parents on the college’s campus. A coach may not watch student-athletes
compete (unless a competition occurs on the college’s campus or visit their high school.
November 6-9, 2023 (Mon-Thu) for the fall signing of the National Letter of Intent
December 8-10, 2023 (Fri-Sun) during the Division I Men’s Soccer Championship.
A coaching staff member may attend an event conducted in conjunction with and in the
host city of the championship.
Quiet Period: December 23-25, 2023

NCAA Eligibility Center
The NCAA Eligibility Center is something that every potential collegiate student-athlete needs to register
for in order to play collegiate sports. Your high school transcripts, SAT scores, ACT scores will all need to
be filed with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
You should register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at the beginning of your junior year of high school.

NAIA Eligibility Center
The official clearinghouse for NAIA eligibility. Every student-athlete must register with the NAIA
eligibility center in order to play sports at an NAIA college. The eligibility center is also a powerful tool to
help athletes connect with coaches and NAIA schools – and find money for college through thousands of
NAIA athletic scholarships.

FastWeb is a search engine dedicated to finding scholarships for college-bound students and current
college students. There are a wide variety of scholarships out there, and FastWeb helps to locate them. 
It is a great resource to use.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
This is the application for college-bound students to potentially receive Federal and State grant money
to attend a public or private college.  The FAFSA awards are mainly based on the financial need and merit of the student. Not only does the FAFSA open up opportunities from the Federal and State governments,
but it also highlights specific awards at different collegiate institutions.
Every potential college-bound student should file the FAFSA for scholarship opportunities for college.

College Board (SAT College Entrance Exams and Scholarship Website)

The SAT is one of two exams that you can take to be eligible to attend college.  Every student-athlete must achieve a certain score on the SAT in order to be eligible to play collegiate athletics.  Through the College Board website, you can register for an upcoming SAT exam, have your scores sent to the college of your choice, and even take practice exams to get prepare for the real one!
The SAT is a more widely used test when it comes to college athletics, but not the only option. Visit the
College Board website to answer any other questions about the SAT you may have.

ACT Student (ACT Entrance Exam and Scholarship)

The ACT is the second of two exams that you can take to be eligible to attend college. Every student-
athlete must achieve a certain score on the ACT in order to be eligible to play collegiate athletics.
Through the ACT website, you can register for an upcoming ACT exam, have your scores sent to the
